Brush Failure in the Main Motor

Main motor blew out with a brush failure. I ended up replacing it with the the E-flight 370 replacement because thats what the hobby shop had in stock. I'm back in the air with extra power to spare!

I was also considering the following:

Mabuchi Gold Label High Performance 370 Motor:

Graupner Speed 300 Motor:

Anyone have any input?

Hi Dan,

I also have a Thunderbird II and am interested in getting this Bird up and going to be the best experiece I can have starting out with Helicopters. What modifications have you made to your bird and how has it been performing for you?

The best thing you can do is get yourself a very accurate ruler and a caliper. I have this one:

* Make sure EH09, the fly bar is "exactly" centered ant the EH13's are firmly attached. I used a dab of superglue to ensure they stay put.

* Remove EH26, the stabilizing tail. It is simply unnecessary weight.

* Ensure the battery is adjusted properly so the center of gravity is directly under the main shaft. I had to move the battery a good bit forward and even remove a bit of the body shell to make a nice fit.

* Take the time to dial in the gyro and get a solid tail lock.

* Order a few extra tail motors right away. It sucks to burn one op and then have to wait a week to get in the air again.
